"HOW DO YOU DO IT?"
AUGUST 24, 2006

It’s been a while since I’ve written an update, so for all those who have been wondering what’s up with the Dixon family, here goes. As you know we moved into our house, just in time for a BIG birthday celebration in April. Our close friends and family were here for the wonderful occasion. Since moving, Logan has made himself right at home in no time. He has had no problem adjusting to a new place.

Better yet, Logan and Hudson share a room, and have become the best of buds. Logan talks to Hud every morning when he wakes up. Logan has become quite the little helper and loves to change diapers and fold laundry. Logan is such a great kid! And we all absolutely LOVE our new home. Having a place of our own has really bonded our family. What a blessing!

Donny’s parents moved here last year from France to help us before the births and after, where they were serving missionaries. They are getting ready to move to Portugal, in September, where God has called them to serve. They have developed a very close relationship with Logan and the Quads. It will be very hard to see them go. Donny and I could not have faced this huge life-altering change in our lives without them. We will be FOREVER grateful for everything they have done for us.

Many people ask, “How do you do it? Do you have help?” Well…here’s your answer. We have been blessed with family that has been a huge support. And we have had some close friends that have been there for us. So, how do we really do it?

It’s not easy. But the most important thing is SCHEDULE, SCHEDULE, SCHEDULE. We have developed a schedule and we stick to it. It works for us! You have to do what works for you. Yes, sometimes the babies all cry at the same time, and trying to feed five kids at the same time can be tricky to say the least. But somehow we get through each day. I do go a little insane every once in a while and not being able to get out of the house can be hard at times. Due to weakened immune systems, the Quads are more susceptible to catching illnesses; therefore we have had to be extremely careful about taking the babies out in public places. Our lives are obviously no longer the way they once were. Some day, once the babies are older and have stronger immune systems, we will be able to go out and do more normal things as a family. But for now our children’s health is most important.

This is by far the hardest job I have ever had, and I have never taken a test that is so mind boggling. But I would not change one bit of it for a moment. Our beautiful children are the most amazing things that will ever happen to us. We will continue to take one day at a time and be grateful for every challenge that we face. We are just so excited and blessed that despite all that we have been through, everyone is doing so well. You’d never know by looking at us – we've been through so much, and continue to prosper. Thank you God for taking care of our family in every way!
