WORDS FROM THE MOTHER OF FIVE
It's amazing how one second can change your life completely – forever. Just last year (2004), it happened to me. And what a miraculous experience! I will never forget the moment my life changed forever. Hearing that first cry – my son was born. Donny and I cried so hard I could not see Logan's face with the nurse first brought him to me.
Since I was a little girl, I dreamt of it. I always wanted to be a mother. It was one of my number one goals in life. Motherhood has changed me. It's changed how I view the world. And it's certainly changed my life.
And then, surprise! Less than six months after Logan was born, we were pregnant again. But this time, there were five babies. Quintuplets! Five babies! As you can imagine – shock.
Close to the beginning of the pregnancy we lost the fifth baby. This baby wasn't strong enough and wasn't developing properly. Of course, this was heartbreaking, but we knew it was all in God's hands. Now the remaining four – the Dixon Quads – are doing well.
I'm very excited about our growing family. I'm honored that God would choose us to be parents of all these children. Some families are unable to have children, and yet, we've been blessed with five. I'm so grateful and will do everything within my power to be the best mother of our precious children that I can be.
Sure, it's overwhelming if you think of everything involved in taking care of all these infants and raising five children at the same time... but I can't wait! We know this is not going to be easy. But with God leading us through, and the love, support and encouragement of our family, friends, church and community, we know we can do it.
There's nothing in life I'd rather do! I love being a mom! It's the greatest job in the world, and I get to do it times five.
